Chain Maille ... No Longer Just For Knights
 Jan 6, 2018    News

Nearly a year ago, we had a crazy idea to live stream Deb showing a different chain maille weave every week. We wanted to show our customers different weaves that they can make. We had no idea that Deb would be joined every week by a growing group of wonderful, like minded people who are also passionate about chain maille and wanting to learn new weaves. So "A Weave A Week" turned into the Saturday Nighters Chain Maille Club and as they say the rest is history.

Towards the end of 2017, Deb began to realise that finding a different new weave every week was going to become tough. Sure there are plenty of weaves still out there however many of the weaves have just small changes to weaves already known or are too difficult/lengthy to fit into a 1/2 hour stream.

To make sure that we don't run out of new weaves and still be able to catch up and maille with you every Saturday Night, we decided to make some changes. Starting February 2018, the format for each month's sessions will be as follows:

Week 1:  Demonstration of 1st New Weave.

Week 2:  Demonstration of an existing Aussie Maille kit.

Week 3:  Demonstration of 2nd New Weave.

Week 4:  Live Q&A Session.  Each week Deb will be inviting people to send in questions they have relating to maille.  It could be a tricky step you are having issues with, materials, tools or even business related questions.  If you send them in advance we will have time to hopefully give you full and useful answers however if you pop in with a question on the night Deb will do her best to answer it.

Week 5: For those months that have 5 Saturdays, our plan is to demonstrate either another existing weave, maybe show a Maille it in Minutes project or even another Q&A if we have enough questions to warrant it….it will be a little random and quite happy to make it up as we go along :).

Prize Giveaways:  We will be making some changes to our prize draw giveaways.  We have decided to give something away once a month starting in February and we plan to do this on our Q&A week, so week 4 of each month. We will be taking a Quality not Quantity approach.

All of the above means that we need to make changes to the Weekly and Monthly subscriptions for the paid members.

Monthly Kit Subscribers:
To line up with the new format for the weekly videos, the goodies and benefits of membership will be changed as follows:

  • Members will now be receiving 2 new kits and PDF’s each month.  Each new weave kit will contain 2-3 pieces to make up. For example it may be a bracelet and a pendant, or necklace and earrings. So although you are only learning 2 new weaves for the month, you are still making at least 4 pieces in that month.

  • Each active subscriber will be placed into a special group on Aussie Maille and will receive a 5% discount automatically on all full priced non sale items.  This discount does not apply when purchasing sales items during a sale or if you purchase items that are already discounted like the clearance section or package deals.

  • Members will also receive a Loot bag that has random items in it each month with a retail value of at least $10.00.

  • Access to member only exclusives that will be held through the year.  This could include such things as:
    *  Pre-release to new products
    *  Extra discounts during sales and/or promotions
    *  Stock Clearance offers

  • There is NO change to the monthly subscription cost.

Weekly PDF Subscribers:
Unfortunately, the news isn’t as good here. As we no longer have new weaves every week to publish and very few subscribers to this service, we feel the best option is to stop this subscription.  We will no longer be accepting new weekly PDF members and a more detailed email will be sent to current subscribers shortly. The last PDF tutorial will be sent on Week 4 of January 2018.

All in all we are very excited about these changes and think that it is a good way to ensure that our Chain Maille club continues to grow and provide value to everyone. Deb will be talking more about these changes in the coming Saturday streams, so if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

We would like to thank ALL of our paid members for your support over the year and can't wait to hang out with you every Saturday night throughout 2018.
