I have many comments from people saying they would love to do chain maille but it looks too hard and fiddly and they could never do it. Not True! It only takes that first step to break through that fear barrier.
We believe Mobius Flower earrings is the project that will do it. I have received many compliments and sold many of these and similar earrings in my time, I am sure you will be thrilled with this project.
Mobius Flower is a simple yet effective Chain Maille weave. Use it in single units to make earrings, string a few together to make a bracelet, put in at the end of other unit weaves to create a totaly different look.
Suggested Supplies List (1pair of earrings):
1.6mmx3/8"(9.53mm)ID Square Wire Jump Rings x 6 (2xContrast, 4xMain)
1.2mmx3/16"(4.76mm)ID Square Wire Jump Rings x 4
1.2mmx3/16"(4.76mm)ID Round WireJump Rings x 4
1 pair of ear wires or studs
2 pairs of pliers (any combination of chain, flat or bent nose)
Before you begin Close two of the 3/8"ID Main colour rings. Open the rest.
Thread one of your opened 3/8"ID rings (contrast colour) through one of your closed rings. Close this ring.
Nestle these two rings into each other and feed one of your 3/8"ID (main colour) through both. Close this ring.
Nestle all three rings into each other as shown. This is known as a Mobius Flower.
You now need to thread two of your opened square wire 3/16"ID rings through the mobius flower. Close both rings.
Thread an opened 3/16"ID round wire ring through the two square wire rings from previous step. Do not close yet.
Before closing this ring, feed your ear wire onto it. Close this ring.
Your finished earring. Repeat the above steps to complete your second earring.
