Japanese 12 in2 is a fabulously versatile weave.Although not difficult it can be fiddly for a beginner to take on.Keeping this in mind we have made available to you an easy to do project. This tutorial uses bright and anodised aluminium jump rings, but it looks as stunning in any metal.
Suggested Supplies:
14 G(1.6 mm) x7.94 mmID– 8(approx)**
14 G(1.6 mm) x6.35 mmID - 8(approx)**
16 G(1.2 mm) x3.97 mmID - 24(approx)**
** sizes used in tutorial images
1 pair ear wires
2 pairs of pliers in any combination of chain, flat or bent nose.
1.
Begin by closing 10 of your 3.97 mmID rings. The rest of your rings will need to be opened, you can do that now or as you go along.
2.
Thread 1 of your 6.35 mmID rings through the 6 of the rings you just closed. Close this ring.
3.
Thread through one of your 7.94 mmID rings through the 6 small rings. Close this ring.
4.
Thread another 6.35 mmID ring through the final 4 of the rings you closed in Step 1. Do not close this ring yet.
5.
Take the rings from Step 4 and thread them through 2 of the small rings. Close this ring.
6.
Making sure you have the 7.94 mmID ring from Step 3(also known as the back of the earring) facing you, and thread through another 7.94 mmID through the same path as the ring from Step 5. & nbsp; Close this ring.
7.
Your work should look like this image.
8.
Take one of your 6.35 mmID rings and feed it through the two pairs(one from each“ side”) of the small rings. Close this ring.
9.
Flip your work over and insert a 7.94 mmID ring through the same path as the ring added in Step 8. Close this ring.
10.
This step is a repeat of Step 8. Feed your 6.35 mmID ring through the remaining two pairs of small rings. Close this ring.
11.
As seen in Step 9 follow the path of the previous ring with a 7.94 mmID ring. Close this ring.
12.
This image show how your work should appear now. All we need to do is add the ear wires!
13.
Take up one of your opened 3.97 mID rings and thread it through one end of the cross, making sure you surround the two rings. Close this ring.
14.
Take up another 3.97 mmID ring and feed it through the previously added ring.Before closing, add your ear wire making sure you have it aligned correctly to show the front and back of your earring. Close this ring.
